Drew Brees took heat for his weapons of mass destruction analogy, but his Tweet was more on point than anyone seems willing to admit. The dying Fourth Estate’s willingness to acquiesce to the prevalent view on that subject helped mire us in a terrible war. The bounty scandal pales in comparison to such an event, of course, but comparing the events wasn’t Drew’s point, nor is it mine. Instead, it’s a focus on the thing the runup to both events share:
